THE GINGER SOPRANO
Rosie Lavery is a Scottish soprano who recently graduated from the RCS Alexander Gibson Opera School in 2024. Her operatic roles include Sophie (Cover, Sophie & Bear, Scottish Opera), Maria (The Witnesses, world premiere), Elettra (Idomeneo, RCS AGOS), Beatrice (Three Decembers, RCS AGOS), Mrs Gobineau (The Medium, RCS AGOS), Noemie (Cendrillon, RCS AGOS) Ellen (Peter Grimes, RCS AGOS), Jade (Dead Man Walking, RCS AGOS), Mother (Hänsel und Gretel, RCS AGOS), Frau Fluth (Die Lustigen Weiber, RCS AGOS Scenes), Nedda (Pagliacci, RCS Opera Scenes), Miss Jessell (Turn of the Screw, RCS) and Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus, RCS).
In the spring of 2024, Rosie was delighted to be chosen as an Oxford Lieder Young Artist alongside her duo partner Anna Michels and will be working closely with them for the next two years. Rosie has won the Governor’s Recital Prize at RCS and was awarded the Florence Veitch Ibler Prize for Oratorio Singing. In 2022, she was delighted to come 2nd place in the Charles Wood Song Prize Competition. Rosie is the recipient of the Salomon Seelig Musicians Company Award, Sybil Tutton Opera Award, The Countess of Munster Award and the Rising Star Award from the John Mathers Trust. She has performed across Europe, including performing in the chorus of Donizetti’s ‘L’elisir d’amore’ in the Palazzo Corsini in Florence, and solo recitals in the Royal Tuschinski Theatre and the Draiiorgelmuseum in Amsterdam. In Scotland, Rosie has performed recitals in many prestigious venues including the Caird Hall, the Royal Concert Hall and the Usher Hall as a 23-24 Usher Hall Emerging Artist.
Rosie is currently preparing for performances with Scottish Opera, Paisley Opera, Oxford International Song Festival and is currently working on a new opera Displaced with Coalign Arts Organisation.
