“Rosie Lavery and Anna Michels are highly talented artists and wonderful stage performers, who clearly have a great future ahead of them, as soloists or working together.” – Edinburgh Music Review
Two Scottish Lassies with a passion for music! Rosie Lavery (The Ginger Soprano) and Anna Michels (The Not So Ginger Pianist) met many years ago at a summer school for traditional music when they were both 12 years old. Since then, they have performed for over a decade as a duo whenever they have been lucky enough to be in the same country. Both graduates from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, they have performed in RCS concerts and competitions together, as well as curating some external performances too.
Together, they love performing a wide range of music, from operatic material with their very own opera company Offstage Opera to Scots traditional tunes that make their Scottish hearts sing – they love a bit of everything! Rosie and Anna joined Live Music Now Scotland in 2023 and had a busy schedule performing around Scotland, as well as delivering workshops and concerts as part of Live Music Now Scotland’s outreach programme. In 2024, Rosie and Anna were selected to join the Oxford International Song Festival Young Artists Programme. Together with accordionist Neil Sutcliffe, they recently founded the Bubblyjock Collective, dedicated to celebrating Scotland’s classical and contemporary music.
